Firebirds Drop to 20-2 Defeat to St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team lost 20-2 to East Coast Conference opponent St. Thomas Aquinas, Sunday afternoon at Spartan Field.

UDC was led by the efforts of freshman Shemara Jefferson with two goals. Amy Rock provided an assist to take her total to eight assists so far this season and she also added three draw controls and four turnovers in the match.

St. Thomas Aquinas' Caroline Finnen scored six goals and one assist in the game to move into fifth in the conference on goals scored. Her teammate Kaitlyn Gutenberger totaled three goals and four assists in the game.

The Spartans were out of the blocks quickly as they put 10 goals past UDC before Jefferson scored. With the Firebirds facing an uphill battle the Spartans continued their form in front of goal and made it 20-1 before a Rock assist set Jefferson up to score her 2nd of the game.
