Firebirds Overpowered in 2nd half, 22-8 Against Post

WATERBURY, CONN – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team fell 22-8 after a solid 1st half against regional foe Post on Friday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

The Firebird offense (1-8, 0-3 ECC) was strong in the 1st half tying the score at 2-2 with more than one Kianna Franklin goal in the 25th minute, followed by three more in the half. Franklin finished with an impressive five goals, six draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Freshman Shemara Jefferson scored two goals in the first half, finishing with took three goals to complete UDC's scoring. The half ended 10-7 in favor of the Eagles.

Goalkeeper Jada Foy performed very well in the cage with a total of 15 saves off 37 shots to contain the Eagles.

Post University (2-10, CACC) defended superbly in the 2nd half only allowing UDC to score one goal. Post was led by Savannah Schwack with a game-high six goals and two assists, Jaylene Souto combined to score five goals and one assist in Post's win.

UDC won the battle of caused turnovers with 27 turnovers to Post's 17, and won 19 draw controls to the home side's 12.

The Firebirds continue on the road in action vs. St. Thomas Aquinas, Sunday, April 8th at 12PM.
