Fighting Firebirds Fall to No. 7 in the Nation LIU Post

BROOKVILLE, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team battled valiantly in their efforts against nationally ranked East Coast Conference opponent LIU Post losing, 21-5, Saturday afternoon at the Bethpage Stadium. 

The Firebirds (1-5, 0-3 ECC) showed a courageous attitude in the contest against No. 7 in the nation LIU Post who are 6-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. 

Again, UDC was inspired by sophomore Kianna Franklin who contributed a joint game-high four goals and one assist. All four of her goals came in the 1st half. She is now on 14 goals for the season. 

In the 2nd half she created the fifth goal for junior Amy Rock who scored her fifth goal of the season to take her points total to eight so far on the season. 

The Pioneers showed their national ranking with an accomplished performance, with sophomores Paige Sherlock and Alyssa Mallery each taking four goals. 

The Firebirds will host Chestnut Hill, Thursday, March 29th at 3PM at the UDC Sports Complex.
