Ford Scores Season High 26 Points in Firebirds First Loss of the Season

FROSTBURG, MD- the University of the District of Columbia's women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season after falling to Frostburg State University 56-72, Friday afternoon.

Nia Ford led all scorers with 26 points goign 11-19 from the field and 3-6 from behind the arc to hit a season high. She also made a game-high three blocks. Latavia Jackson and Tori Williams combined for 14 points and Destiny Ryles had a team-high five rebounds and a game-high five assists.

The Firebirds shot 36.1% from the field, 25% from behind the arc and 57.1% from the foul line. The Bobcats shot 40.9% from the field, 30% from the three point line and 63.2% from the charity stripe. UDC forced more turnovers (22-216) and converted 27 points off of those turnovers, but struggled to pull boards as FSU outrebounded them 50-24.

Next up, UDC (11-1, 4-0 ECC) will head to Adelphi University on Monday. Tip off is set for 1:00 pm.
