University of the Sciences Edges UDC Women 66-64 in Overtime

Philadelphia, PA: January 28, 2010-With two seconds remaining in regulation, Caitlin Shaw made a jump shot for University of the Sciences to tie the score of their women's basketball game with the University of the District of Columbia at 58, and force an overtime period as they went on to defeat UDC, 66-64, tonight at Morgan Arena.

Marissa Chesnavich paced the Devils to the win scoring 16 points and pulling down 7 boards, while Shaw recorded a double double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Alyssa Hamm also reached double digits scoring 10 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in their win over the Firebirds.

Junior center Lillian McGill (Sumter, SC) recorded her 14th double of the season as she scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the game. Junior guard Nicole Cooper (Fort Washington, MD) added 11 points, 1 rebound and sophomore forward Stacy Griffith (Fredericksburg, VA) added 10 points and 12 boards for her third double double performance of the season.

UDC (8-13) returns to action on February 10, at The Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia for a re-match. UDC defeated Apprentice 72-59 in their first meeting on January 20, in Washington, DC.
