LADY FIREBIRDS LOSE CLOSE CONTEST TO ALASKA-ANCHORAGE
The University of the District of Columbia Lady Firebirds lost a close contest to the University of Alaska-Anchorage by the score of 66-60 tonight in Anchorage. It was the Lady Firebirds first cross-country basketball competition trip and the excitement and jet-lag took its toll. After the lenghty flight, the Lady Firebirds needed additional time to loosen-up and make the game competitive.
Never-the-less the Lady Firebirds, shooting 29 percent for the game, made it a competitive contest losing only by six points. Robin Williams led the Lady Firebirds scoring 19 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and making 2 steals. Jaime Brown followed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Deidre Bumbrey added 8 points, 4 assists and 5 steals.
Rebecca Kielpinski paced the Lady Seawolves with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kelsey Larsen followed with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Tristen Burnett added 9 point, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Lady Firebirds are now 2-8 for the
season. They will continue their Alaska road trip when they
travel to Fairbanks to face Alaska-Fairbanks on December
17th.
