UDC defeats Shepherd 5-2

Shepherdstown, WV- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team defeated Shepherd University 5-2 to secure their third win of the season. 

The Firebirds swept the doubles matches to earn the point and put them in lead. The No.2 doubles team of Enzo Alavaski and Juan Estevez Hernandez had a 6-0 shutout victory followed by the No.1 doubles team of Maksim Bahdanovich and Kostiantyn Kalchev who defeated their opponent 7-6(2).

Up first on the courts for the Firebirds was Alavaski who defeated his opponent Ryan Cox at No.3 6-0, 6-1. Kalchev lost his first singles match of the season falling to Shepherd's Carter Davis 6-2, 6-2 at No.1.  The next two matches saw Louis Mangeon (No.2) and Hernandez (No.4) claiming victory over their opponents with a 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 win to lead the firebirds to a 5-2 victory.

Up next, UDC (3-0) will face off against Stonehill college on October 11that 11:00am.
