ITA Results Day 1-2

FLUSHING, NY – Two members of the University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championship Sept. 14-15 at Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Sophomore Josip Marinic and freshman Maksim Bahdanovich competed in the singles and doubles competition.

On Day 1, Fri., Sept. 14, Bahdanovich and Marinic each earned wins in the 1st qualifying singles round. Bahdanovich defeated Michael Rosen (St. Anselm), 8-3, and Marinic defeated St. Thomas Aquinas' Peter Molina, 8-0.

Bahdanovich was defeated in the final qualifying round by Concordia's Lars Olson, 8-3, but Marinic advanced to the first round by beating Stonehill College's Aaron Diamond, 8-4.

On Day 2, in the Round of 64, Marinic was bested in a very competitive match, 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 by Merrimack's Denis Davdov.

In doubles play, Marinic and Bahdanovich teamed up to take on Franklin Pierce's Nkrumah Patrick and Roberto Chong in the Round of 64. They were defeated in a hard-fought match, 8-5.
