Gomes Racks up Two Goals and an Assist in Conference Win against New York Tech

Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team defeated New York Tech in an important conference win, to keep them still in the running to make the play offs. 

Vito Gomes led the Firebirds to a 3-2 win over the Bears with two goals and an assist. 

Gomes and Malik Thom played the dynamic duo, each scoring a goal in the first half that was assisted by the other. The Firebirds led the Bears 2-0 going into half time. 

Gomes striked again in the second half scoring the game winning goal at the 68thminute to bring the score to a 3-0 lead. With a little less than 40 seconds to go in the game, the Firebirds had a misfortune scoring an own goal which was followed up right after with a goal from NYT's Simon-Peter. This brought the final score to 3-2.

Next up the Firebirds will take a break from conference play to host Washington Adventist on October 30that 3:00PM on the UDC field.
