Firebirds shut out by the Lions 1-0

Rockville Centre, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team suffered a tough loss against Molloy college in their second Conference showing of the season. The Firebirds are now 3-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

The first 43 minutes of the first half saw the score 0-0 as neither teams were able to make it on the scoreboard. Vitor Gomes took the first shot on goal in the 13thminute of the game but was unfortunately denied by Molloy's goalkeeper Dennis Mejia. The Firebirds would go back and forth with the Lions, until a shot from Molloy's Carlos Bonilla found its way to the back of the UDC net with less than two minutes to go in the first half.

With the Firebirds trailing 1-0 going into the second half they were left to play catch up. UDC and Molloy took a total of six shots during the second half but both teams turned up short. In the end, the goal scored by Bonilla in the first half turned out to be the game winner.

The Firebirds are back in action this Saturday October 12that 12pm as they host ECC foe Roberts Wesleyan.
