Firebirds Soar past Huskies to claim Second Straight Victory

Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's Men's Soccer Team defeated Bloomsburg to secure their third win of the season, on Saturday Afternoon at the UDC Field.

Senior Forward Malik Thom took a total of three shots, all of which were on goal and two of which made it onto the scoreboard. Teammate Vitor Gomes took a total of four shots with two ending up in the back of the net.

The Firebirds dominated the first half outscoring the Huskies 3-0 going into half time. The Huskies would come back, in what turned out to be a very heated second half, to score the first two goals of the half and closing the gap on the scoreboard 3-2.

With the intensity at an all-time high it was still anyone's game during the last 15 minutes of play. Gomes would come in clutch, taking a pass from Thomas Cecil and sending it to the back of the net to put the Firebirds up 4-2 with less than two minutes to go in the game. The Firebirds came out on top with a score of 4-2.

Up next UDC (3-6, 1-0 ECC) will head to NY on October 9th to face off against ECC foe Molloy College at 4:00PM.
