Firebirds Fall to Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, PA- The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team fell to Slippery Rock 4-0 on Wednesday Afternoon at the James Egli field.

 The Firebirds (1-4) took a season high of thirteen shots (eight of which were on goal), by nine different players, that would unfortunately never see the back of the net. 

Slippery Rock scored the first of four goals a little less than twelve minutes into the first half. Vitor Gomes would get a chance at a shot with less than five minutes to go in the first half which was then saved by the Rock's goalkeeper Matt Hunsberger. Slippery Rock would follow up with a successful, putting them up 2-1 going into half time. 

The second half saw the Firebirds more than tripling their shots in an attempt to make up the deficit made in the first half. The Rock would follow up with two more goals ending the game in their favor 4-0.

UDC will host its second home game of the season on Saturday September 21stagainst Gannon at 1:00PM.
