UDC Men’s Soccer clutches their First Victory in Season Opener against Goldey-Beacom

New Castle, DE- The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team defeated Goldey-Beacom College in season opener, on Thursday afternoon at the Wilmington Field.
The first half saw the Firebirds with two shots and Goldey-Beacom with three. Both teams, however, were able to keep the other at bay, finishing up the half with a score of 0-0. The second half saw the Firebirds tripling its shots with one on goal.
Senior forward, Malik Thom scored the first and only goal of the game, with less than six minutes to go in the second half. The assist came from sophomore midfielder Pierre LaNoire who had a free kick, which allowed Thom to knock in the rebound. The game ended with UDC on top defeating Goldey-Beacom 1-0 and bringing their record to 1-0, for the season.
The Firebirds will face off against Wilmington on Saturday September 7th at 4:20pm.
