Host of Firebirds Earn East Coast Conference Men’s Soccer All-Conference Honors

WEST BABYLON, NY – Four members of the University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team were named to the East Coast Conference All-Conference teams announced Monday, November 5th.

Senior midfielders Gabriel Torres and Kelvin Herrera and senior defender Michael Agboola each earned Second Team All-Conference honors, and senior forward Raphael Pacano garnered a Third Team accolade.

Torres registered 18 points on six goals and six assists this season. His six goals ranked tied for 11th in the ECC, his six assists ranked tied for 2nd, and his 18 points ranked tied for 7th in the conference. He was also tied for 3rd in penalty kick goals, as he was a perfect 3-of-3 on the season. The Salvador, Brazil native was also 3rd in the ECC in shots taken with 56, and 2nd in shots on goal with 28.

Herrera registered six points on two goals and two assists. His two goals were both gamewinners, as he scored the first goal in a 2-0 win in the season opener vs. Goldey-Beacom College, and he scored the 3rd goal in a 4-2 win vs. Bridgeport. Also, he assisted the game-winning goal in the Firebirds' 2-1 overtime win at Roberts Wesleyan.

Agboola anchored a Firebird defensive unit that held opponents to one goal or less in five games this season, including two shutout victories. He assisted one of the Firebirds' goals in a game at Queens on September 15th.

Pacano had a very strong end to the season which saw him finish with a team-high seven goals – good for 8th best in the ECC. He scored six of his seven goals in the month of October, including a hat trick against Daemen in a 4-3 UDC win on October 17th. He was also 2-for-2 on penalty-kick attempts.
