West Chester, PA –The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team fell, 1-0 in overtime to former NCAA tournament quarterfinalist West Chester University at Rockwell Field.
The Firebirds (2-4-1) performed well defensively as West Chester came out strong and fast attempting the first 3 shots of the game. The quick offense earned the Rams a corner kick in the 5th minute that was defended well by the Firebirds.
The Firebirds best chance to score came in the 33rd minute when sophomore forward Michael Egbame that was blocked but followed up by a shot by Gabriel Torres that just barely missed deflecting off the crossbar.
The University of the District of Columbia forced Will Marshall and the West chester rams to make 4 saves on the day including 1 in overtime on a shot by Raphael Pacano.
The game winning goal came from a shot by West Chester's Kyle Hoops that was made possible by a long cross into the box. Freshman Milton Diaz made his Firebird debut in goal earning 3 saves in the game.
