Firebirds scored eight goals in the third quarter in tough loss against No. 3 Mercy.

Washington DC- The University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team had a strong showing in the third quarter but eventually fell to No. 3 Mercy, Saturday evening at the UDC Sports Complex Field.

The Firebirds had a rough start with the Mavericks outscoring them 7-0 in the first quarter and 4-0 in the second quarter. UDC came out in the third quarter blazing, scoring eight goals and outscoring Mercy 8-4. Eric Boco broke the dry spell, which was followed up by a goal from Syrrus Nash. Mercy then went on to score two back-to-back goals but the Firebirds responded scoring four back-to-back goals, with Jacob Saunders and Alan Singleton scoring two goals apiece.

UDC was able to keep that momentum finishing off the quarter with two goals split between Jeffrey Vo and Singleton to bring the score to 14-8. A tough last quarter saw the Mavericks outscoring the Firebirds 3-1 with the final score at 17-9.

The Firebirds are now 4-4 and they will face off against LIU Post at home on Saturday April 6.
