Firebirds Come up Short in Thriller Against Bowie State

Bowie, MD - The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team fell just short against cross-town rival Bowie State University, losing 73-70 in a tightly contested game on Wednesday night at A.C. Jordan Arena. The Bulldogs are now 6-1 against the Firebirds at the A.C arena.

The Firebirds and Bulldogs were evenly matched, with the first half ending in a 33-33 tie. The second half saw back-and-forth action as both teams traded baskets, but Bowie State managed to pull ahead in the final minutes. Despite a last-minute push by UDC, the Firebirds couldn't complete the comeback.

Khyrie Staten led UDC with 13 points and 6 rebounds, while Tevin Curtis added 15 points and 7 rebounds, going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. Mikhai Arnold provided a spark off the bench with 9 points on perfect shooting from beyond the arc.

Bowie State's Amare Wimbush dominated inside, recording a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Elijah Davis contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
