Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team defeated New York Tech in a conference showdown on Saturday afternoon at the UDC Gym. The Firebirds improve to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in league play while the Bears fell to 1-11 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Zachary Olukanni led the Firebirds with a game high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was followed by Juanye Colon who scored 13 points going a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Consolo Adams contributed a season high eight points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Kerry Kirkwood led the game with 12 rebounds and six assists.
The Bears led the Firebirds going into half time 25-24 but UDC came back in the second half to outscore NYT 26-18 and win the game 50-43.
