Firebirds Fall to the Warriors on the Road

New York, N.Y.- UDC men's basketball team had three players score in the double figures but fell short in a loss against Nyack College Saturday Afternoon at the Bowman gym. This loss breaks the Firebirds four game win streak falling to 4-2 on the season while the Warriors improve to 4-2.

Cheyenne Nettleton led UDC with 16 points off the bench and starters Zachary Olukanni and Aaren Smith put up 15 points apiece 

First Half: Firebirds were neck and neck with the Warriors, with UDC slightly outshooting Nyack 37-36. The Warriors out rebounded the Firebirds, taking advantage of more second chance points on the offense. Jaunye Colon put the Firebirds on the board first with a layup a little less than two minutes into play. The warriors were able to take the lead after a couple free throws made by Joel Bailey. The rest of the half saw the both teams going back and forth with the lead and tying at two different points. The last three seconds saw Nettleton sinking a three pointer to take back the lead for UDC. 

Second Half: UDC led Nyack for more than half of the second half with Olukanni leading the way with 12 points. The Warriors had a change of luck after a layup by Perris Hicks at 3:42 gave them back control of the game. The Firebirds were unable to get a basket in the net for the remainder of the half which led to the Warriors 79-69 victory. 

Next up the Firebirds will end the month of November with an away contest on the 27thagainst Division II rival Bowie State.
