Offensive Struggles Lead to 87-59 Defeat

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Firebirds were defeated 87-59 by Roberts Wesleyan Friday afternoon.

Freshman guard Juanye Colon led the Firebirds with 19 points, six rebounds off the bench, and shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line points. Senior point guard Quadire Truesdale offensively, helped the Firebirds by scoring 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. The Redhawks were led by Justin Vaughn. He finished the game with 20 points and six rebounds. The Redhawks also finished the game with two players (Jean Toussaint and Peyton McLaurin) earning a double-double.

Senior guard Kevin Cox almost earned a double-double scoring eight points and nine rebounds. Junior guard Zachary Olukanni also scored in the double-digits finishing the game with 11 points and two steals. UDC were the better team from the free throw line shooting 78 percent from the line (18-23). The Redhawks were the more dominant team on the backboards out rebounding the Firebirds 36-49 allowing the the Redhawks to maintain their lead.  

The Firebirds next game is away vs ECC conference rival Daemen College on January 27th. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
