WASHINGTON, DC - The University of the District of Columbia announced today that Jeff Ruland will not return as Head Men's Basketball Coach. The University will begin the process to hire a new coach.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Junior guard Michael Terry of the University of the District of Columbia men’s basketball team was named East Coast Conference player of the week for his outstanding performance in the Firebirds’ 106-86 season finale win over Mercy on Saturday, March 2nd.

WASHINGTON, DC – Just a five-point game at halftime, the University of the District of Columbia men’s basketball team was out-scored 45-20 in the second period as they fell to East Coast Conference foe Molloy, 82-52 on Saturday afternoon.

Quasim Jones scored a team-high 24 points and added four assists.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Firebirds men’s basketball team led Queens for almost the entire first half and part of the second half, but a game-changing 19-3 surge by the Knights ultimately led to an 88-79 loss in East Coast Conference play at Fizgerald Gym on Wednesday night.

Late Spartans Surge Sends STAC to 75-68 Victory Over District of Columbia

WASHINGTON, DC – Leading 56-51 with just 6:07 left to play in regulation, a worn-down Firebirds squad of just six able-bodied players allowed the host St. Thomas Aquinas on an 18-4 run over the next five minutes and was ultimately saddled with a disappointing, 75-68 East Coast Conference loss on Sunday afternoon at Aquinas Hall.

Junior transfer point guard tied a school record with 16 assists while committing no turnovers in 40 minutes of play for the second consecutive game.

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia held a Military Appreciation Night during its East Coast Conference basketball doubleheader against the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, January 30th to honor the nation’s active military and veterans. In partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project, the Firebirds played host to wounded veteran, Michael Allison and his son, Omar.

Sophomore Florent Pontens had a season-high 14 points.
