UDC Senior Guard Kechan Myers Finishes with Game-high 28 Points in Columbia Union Defeat

Washington,DC : February 29, 2009Senior guard Kechan Myers(Philadelphia, PA) closed out his collegiate playing career with a game-high 28 point, five rebound performance in the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 79-63, win over the Columbia Union Pioneers tonight at the Physical Activities Center. Myers and senior forward Rasheed Cole (Alexandria, VA), who scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, were honored in a pre-game ceremony that recognized their achievements on the court and in the classroom, as they played in their final home game for the Firebirds.

William "Doc" Robinson, a fixture in Washington area basketball since the early 1970s, died Friday at Georgetown University Hospital, six weeks after suffering a massive stroke, his niece April Coleman said. He was 68.

Philippi, WV: December 12, 2008After leading the entire first half, the Salem International Fighting Tigers fell to the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 59-57, today in Philippi, West Virginia during the Alderson-Broaddus Classic. The Firebirds went into the half time break trailing by two points, 31-29. The second half was a whole new game, as the Firebirds mounted a furious comeback, taking the lead from the Fighting Tigers when senior guard Kechan Myers (Philadelphia, PA) hit a 3-pointer, with an assist from freshman Justin Smith (Fayetteville, GA), to give UDC a 33-32 point lead, at 19:38 into the half.

Washington, DC:December 6, 2008After trailing most of the game, the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds rallied in the second half and almost pulled out the win, but fell to the visiting Shaw University Bears, 59-57, at the Physical Activities Center this afternoon. Shaw held UDCs leading scorer, senior guard Kechan Myers (Philadelphia, PA) to 5 points, his lowest for the season, and limited junior guard David Burton (Philadelphia, PA), their second leading scorer to 13 points as they edged the Firebirds in spite of a game and career-high 24 point performance by sophomore guard Tim Ellison (Alexandria, VA).
