Bio

Dr. Kimberly Crews was appointed as the Faculty Athletic Representative for the University of the District of Columbia in June 2019. As a former professional advisor, instructor of Freshman Orientation, and developer of the Degree Works degree audit system at UDC, Dr. Crews’ breadth of knowledge of the requirements for all majors and is an asset for the Athletic Department.

Crews often begins her day by engaging in aqua fitness or water walking, hiking, or other fitness activities. She is a certified aqua fitness instructor. She is an avid reader and enjoys watching a variety of sports in her spare time, including attending Firebird games and matches.

Crews is Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Education and Social Sciences and Assistant Director of the General Education Program at the University of the District of Columbia. She teaches World Cultural Geography and the Interdisciplinary Capstone course. She champions interdisciplinary approaches to addressing local and global problems having worked in governmental and non-governmental positions where this skill was essential to advancing work goals. Her research interests are team-based learning and other pedagogies that help students and faculty think and work across disciplines.

Crews received her doctorate in Higher Education and Adult Learning, holds a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, received a Master of Arts degree in Demography from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of New Mexico.
