Shannell Hibbert named ECC Track Athlete of the week.

Washington DC- Junior Shannell Hibbert was named ECC Track Athlete of the week for her performance at the Delaware State Classic on Saturday March 30.

Hibbert had a tremendous performance with a trio of top three finishes. She placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.19, third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.64, and was on the 4x100m relay that placed third with a time of 47.46s. All three times are the good for first place in the ECC this season. The 4x100m relay team of Hibbert, Shanieka Bowra, Cierra Roberts and Shanise Rose also has one of top times in the East Region so far this season (47.46s).

"Shannell is starting to return to her form that saw her win the 60m hurdles indoor and the 100m hurdles outdoor titles in 2018. She fell off a bit during the indoor season but she has since realized what her potential is and we are right back on track to her defending her outdoor title," said Coach Phillip. "The 4x100m relay consists of very hard workers so I am not surprised by their performance. They have the potential to run a lot faster, we just have to clean up our baton passing. I am very proud of the ladies."

The Firebirds look to improve on their performances at the Mary Washington Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg, VA on April 5.
